Beta Emulation Codes

These codes recreate or emulate effects or certain features that were part of the Beta Zelda 64 and not the released version.  The Navi color codes were found by SubDrag (at) hotmail.com.  A more complete list of his modifiers can be found on Odyssey of Hyrule.

This code is super freaky.  It literally flattens the textures, turning them into single colors.  It looks creepily like the old pictures from the "Early Testing" section.  The code is real, too.  We've had it tested by our crew and it is as real as the Beta Quest!  We haven't found the American codes yet, but I'm certain it exists.  It can't be a PAL-encryption thing, either, since that would affect the interface as well, while this only affects mesh textures (if you didn't understand that, then don't worry about it).

This code allows you to control which version of the area you're about to visit is loaded (it also works when going between sections, such as the different intersections in the Lost Woods or the village and Deku Tree grove in Kokiri Forest).  0000 is always Child Link's Day version, 0001 is always Child Link's Night version, 0002 is Adult Link's Day version, and 0003 is Adult Link's Night version.  There's usually no more than 6 versions for a level, and some areas (including all dungeons except Jabu-Jabu's Belly and Ice Cavern) are completely immune to this code.

Thanks to XDaniel for finding this code.

ATTENTION!  This code does not work correctly.  It has been tested on 1.0 (I don't have 1.1 or 1.2) and all that changes is Navi's tint, and it does not use standard RGB values.  For instance, when all three are set to zero, Navi's blue instead of black.  When the Red value is FF, Navi is pink.  When all three are at full, Navi's white, and so on.  If you have 1.1 and/or 1.2 please try the code and see if it works (make sure you are using a Gameshark Pro).  If it does, please notify me and be sure to include your game's version number.

Other versions coming soon.... relatively speaking!

Sadly, we have yet to discover a way to actually make the game change the controller settings so A pulls out the sword and B performs actions.  However, this code will actually swap your A and B buttons around and alter their colors so it will appear to the unsuspecting observer that you're playing an old version of the game!  Great for showing off to nerdy friends.
