Alpha & Beta Findings

Originally, this section was devoted to findings in the Beta Quest.  For those new to Zelda hacking, the "Beta Quest" was a special code used by gamers and hackers to play the game in different versions of various levels.  After years of speculation, it was concluded that the "Beta Quest" was actually just the cutscenes not starting, and that what we were walking around in were the areas as they had been designed when the cutscene was first made (or the final version, but modified so that various people wouldn't show up while the cutscene was in progress).  As recently as late 2004, Zelda's Secret Ocarina abandoned the Beta Quest in favor of XDaniel's Room Variation Modifier, and then later on the Map Select feature in the Debugger's ROM.
While we still will provide the Beta Quest Maps that we exclusively featured back when the website was first founded (don't worry, Beta Quests A to F never existed), the Findings list will include finds that are outside the Beta Quest.  Some of them are exclusive to the Debugger's ROM, but most can be accessed with any OOT ROM (including Master Quest).

FINDINGS

As of October 26, 2006, Ocarina of Time is considered to have been completely hacked (although there's still a chance more is in the game).  Below you will find most of the findings discovered by our intrepid hackers, along with all the screenshots and procedures.  All of the codes listed in the right-hand column were found either by the hacker Cendamos or via methods of which he and JayTheHam of our affiliate website Zelda Chaos developed.  In the interests of not being repetitive, they are credited here for said work.  Oh, and check out the Play as Dark Link code.  Very cool.
